I teach 12-14 year olds that are full of energy. At this age they should have more physical activity than a school allows and most times are forced to sit in uncomfortable plastic chairs all day. This is extremely difficult for many of my students, especially those with ADHD and any kind of back or leg ailment. I believe making students more comfortable will allow them to concentrate more on their learning.
I believe the more comfortable a student is in their classroom, the easier it is for them to concentrate on their education. On a personal level, this was true for me during my school years. Between the fluorescent lighting and plastic chairs, some days school was unbearable. We need to rethink our classroom setup.
