Students with learning disabilities sometimes struggle with accessing grade level reading and therefore are not able to participate in discussions and classroom activities. They may feel lost, apprehensive about speaking out, and not engaged in the lesson.
Headphones provide another way for students to access materials and texts through audiobooks and text to speech apps. Each student who has this accommodation through special education, 504 plan, or multi-language learner plan can use these headphones. Students can listen to grade level texts and comprehend. Then, students are on the edge of the seat with hands up, speaking out and engaging in their classroom discussions.
The benefit of these headphones not only helps students in middle school. Students will become advocates for their education by utilizing the text to speech accommodation. Students will be able to use these accommodations in high school, college, and career.
Equity for All learners!
