My goal in class is always to make literature relevant and real. With class texts like Hamlet and Beowulf, this can be a challenge. Scrolling through online text is second nature for students nowadays, but I want students to also have the chance to hold an actual book. This physical connection helps make literature more visceral and engaging!
Being able to close their laptops and open a book is a great way to provide multiple ways for students to interact with classic texts.
I will pair these books with the online curriculum we use to greatly enhance students' comprehension and internalization of the stories and literary concepts we study in class.
