Seventy-five percent of my fourth-grade class reads below grade level. The reading level in my class ranges from Kindergarten to fifth grade. My students do not have access to books at home, and our school library has a limited selection of books. They do not have the opportunity to find books that interest them and increase their desire to read.
"There's no such thing as a kid who hates reading, there are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books." -James Patterson
My kids want to love reading but they have not found the right books that sparks their interest in reading. I want to provide them with a variety of books so that they can find the right book that inspires them. I want them to find a favorite book that they read over and over again. I want them to be lifelong readers.
