As a teacher, I am always open to getting feedback on how to grow in my craft as an educator. However, the feedback is mostly based on a snapshot of a lesson instead of the lesson in its entirety. Therefore, my reflection is only on a portion of my instruction, student interaction and the students’ engagement in the lesson.
Wanting a more comprehensive look at my instruction, I researched a tool that would provide my math team and me with a way to be able to record our delivery of instruction, questioning, student interaction and student engagement—all hands-free. The Swivl C3-C Series Robot will provide us with the platform needed to do this. The recordings will help us to look at our current practice and improve where necessary. Moreover, we would have opportunities to use the tool for self-reflection or for peer observations. As a team, we can review the recordings and support each other before formal administrative observations.
Ultimately, improving our practice will positively impact our students’ learning and academic growth.
