Through the use of La Casa del Arbol book series I want to build my students' bilingualism and biliteracy skills. With this series I want to bridge their two languages, English and Spanish. My students can expand their vocabulary, fluency, decoding, comprehension and writing skills during read alouds, independent practice and guided reading. My students will use their background knowledge from the English series we have been reading in class and pick up with the Spanish version with ease as we have been studying characters and plots. I've seen their interest level in reading increase dramatically through the English version, I am thrilled to see this project through and surprise them with the Spanish version!
