My classroom is a first grade intensive special education classroom. That means I have regular education students, along with students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP). We use technology daily in our classroom. However, when you have students with special needs and other students who need a quiet room to work, headphones are a necessity.
Since our school is a low-income, high poverty school, the students do not have the financial resources to buy their own headphones. Allowing them to work on programs on their level on the computer is just another way to individualize their learning, and work to their ability.
