While my students love orchestra, it is difficult for many families at my Title 1 school to afford instruments. As my program grows, I am running out of school instruments to let students use. Many of the instruments I do have are difficult or even painful to play because they are so run down. A new cello would help enable students who don't have the financial resources to pursue their love for music. Playing music can give students a sense of pride an belonging in addition to helping develop their brains and perseverance. Especially for students who have less economic opportunities, getting to play a good instrument in an orchestra can be an empowering and exciting learning experience.
