By gaining larger amounts in the same books, my students will work together in literacy groups to discuss, find vocabulary, create questions, and find connections from their life and the book. As a first year teacher this project will not only help my current third graders, but future third grade students. As third graders grow they are becoming more interested in the story and not just a picture book. These books will help support them in their transitions from proficient in short stories to expert beginners in chapter books and comphrension. My goal is to teach them strategies of comprehension using sticky notes, research, finding supporting evidence and asking questions.
