My students are middle schoolers that know they are not reading at grade level. What Read 180 does for them and Learning Ally is give them the chance to listen and learn. The headphones get used a lot and we are in need of new ones. I typically only have 15 students in my class at a time, but we are in need of them. The microphone system is needed because there are times Read 180 students have to practice their fluency and read into the computer.
During the 50 minutes my class is in session, I am doing reading groups. A group of students is reading to selves with an independent text, another group using the Chromebooks accessing either Read 180 or Learning Ally, and another group at the table with me for guided instruction. They are all grouped according to their reading levels.
