Each day I meet with a small group of students to review a learning target at a table in my classroom. The difficulty comes when they try to bring their chairs from their desks over to the table. There is not enough room to move the chairs and frustrates students with seating options. In addition when the chairs are around the table, there is barely enough room. The flexible seating options will allow me to have a larger group and give students an incentive to participate in the group by having the flexible seating.
The small group instruction is essential to both building relationships with my students and aiding in them developing mastery of learning. Research shows that students excel better in situations which offer them flexibility and comfort.
