Unfortunately, teaching in an urban school district requires me to spend a great deal of money out of pocket to support my students’ learning. My 6th and 7th grade language arts students would benefit greatly from access to audio that supports their reading. Sturdy over-ear headphones rather than flimsy earbuds would withstand daily use and help students stay focused. We also need more Chromebooks so all students can create, apply, and extend their knowledge and skills. It is imperative that students have access to technology to get the most out of their online intervention platforms, utilize audiobooks, and gain the experience and skills needed to compete and succeed in the 21st century. My students deserve the same tools more affluent school districts provide for their students. They are at a disadvantage if they are unable to be immersed in the same technology other students use on daily basis. Thank you :)
