There are currently 2 wobble stools in my classroom for students to use. Each day 2 names are drawn and everyone gets excited. Unlike balls, the stools are sturdy while still allowing for students to move while learning.
The wobble stools allow students to rock side to side and front to back which can help calm the brain and facilitate learning. I have observed students who have difficulty regulating activity in traditional chairs settle and focus while using the wobble stools. Students also ask if 6th grade contains these wonderful stools - unfortunately, the answer is "no".
