Students need extra options to help them stay calm and ready to learn during the day. Sensory items can help children calm down or control anxious feelings and feel ready to participate in classroom activities like reading or learning to read, taking a Math exam, or writing a story. At times the thought of a reading timing can cause so much anxiety that a child will give up but having a sensory device can help them calm down enough to believe they can try. Other times students are so angry at other students over a small recess activity that they come to class unable to think about Math. A sensory blanket can help with this.
