While the majority of the students of my school has chosen to opt out of in school learning and continue to be remote to ensure their safety, we are still expecting at least 120 students to be coming into the building on a rotating basis. In a normal school year, the NYC DOE would provide teachers with $250 to help aid in supplies costs. However, this year due to budget cuts, we will not be receiving this funding. This year is more important than ever to buy more supplies for students because they are not allowed to share materials throughout the day. My admin is very helpful in trying to get all the supplies that we need, but its not easy in today's climate to get everything approved. So, I am trying to create individual supply bags for my students that will be learning in person in order to eliminate any sharing of materials. I've also included cleaning supplies because while the city is saying they will be providing supplies, many NYC teachers know how hard it typically is to have enough cleaning supplies in the classroom.
