STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It offers students a hands-on approach to learning multiple subjects, problem-solving skills, and higher level thinking.
When my students are working on STEAM projects they are so engaged, excited and learning out loud. The items on my list will allow me to add more engaging projects for my students to learn from.
The Osmo sets will allow my students to better understand coding and how it works. Technology and computer science are everywhere in our world today, and its imperative that our students understand what's going on around them. Coding really encourages students to think higher and more profoundly.
Makey-Makey allows students to create an array of items and then connect circuits to Chromebook to make those items work. For example, students can design a floor piano using art related items and hooking up the circuits from Makey-Makey to actually be able to play the piano that they created.
The other items asked for allow students to create whatever comes to their imagination. If needed I can always add challenges to create something that goes along with a story we've read or particular subject we're studying. Imaginations soar when given a few materials and time to explore!
