My students have been learning about Global Issues and are determined to find solutions to the problems they will be tasked with solving as adults. In order to reduce the number of plastics left behind after our use, they would like our school community to use personal containers instead of buying small plastic water bottles. We have one bottle filler in our school by the gym, but it is too far for students to use between classes and still get to class on time. They proposed purchasing a bottle filler that can be utilized by the eighth graders located upstairs and far, far away from the gym. We don’t have money to purchase items to start fundraising so we thought a global community like this could help these students feel like they can make a difference even in our small part of the world. I can’t wait to see them empowered and contribute to make bigger, positive changes in our community.
