This microphone system will increase my students' attentiveness and engagement when speaking or listening. We are in an older portable classroom which does not have the best sound system. Whether the air conditioning, heating or the fan is powered, there is constant noise which my students must compete with when speaking in front of the class. It is draining on both the listeners and the speakers.
My students are the leaders of tomorrow, and I must give them full opportunities to develop their listening skills and speaking skills. Our California College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards for Speaking and Listening define these skills. By the simple fact that my students will not have to strain their voices to be heard, this will allow them to focus on the meaning of their words and of their peers. My students will be able to more effectively engage in a range of conversations, share their comprehension of content, and present their knowledge and ideas.
