I am a 23 year veteran teacher who was recently chosen to create and design a STEM/STEAM/gifted classroom for our elementary school. This is a new and exciting experience for our kids who need and want to learn more and have shown they excel in the areas of math and reading.
They are completing work and coming to me twice a day for STEM. This is why I have chosen a wide variety of materials to motivate my students to think about their futures and career interests. I chose a microscope so they could feel like a scientist; a 4D vision tiger to entice veterinarians, and Makey Makey is amazing-it allows music connected to literally anything...bananas, steps, play-doh. I also like the Smart Globe as it will take them around the world; someday they may do great work in other countries.
