This material will help give my students a new understanding of our ELA standards because they will be able to relate to the characters in the text. The kids will be able to see themselves in scenarios that they don't see a lot of, in the books we read in class. Not only will the kids enjoy this new reading material, but it also can improve ELA test scores. My student's comprehension will be improved as well as they're understanding of the text because it will be relatable to their everyday lives! Most 5th grade and 4th-grade students don't spend their free time reading books, but hopefully, with the multicultural books in the classroom, my students will feel more accepted into our classroom's community as well as our entire school's.
