I'm requesting art supplies for two lessons for 3 classes of 4th and 5th graders. The first lesson is building an Arpilleras which tells a textile story using a faux felting technique developed in Chile in the 1970's. We plan on learning about Chile and then developing a story to tell. Each student will plan their own story and then build their Arpilleras to match it!
We'll be gathering data into graphs and finding the hidden patterns to create art out of our findings. Each student will be a data detective to collect information, design patterns, create arrangements, and develop a piece of visual communication. We'll let students see their math in a new way!
