Creating a defined space for children to come together and learn will be a wonderful start to creating our community within our classroom. Using this rug to refer to letters, sounds and colors shown will make it not only a place for children to be together, but to know that they can learn from the objects around us. The children will be able to find similarities and differences on the rug and initiate conversations with their neighbors and build stronger relationships as the year goes on. It is important that the children in the room feel safe, comfortable and welcomed.
