My students demonstrate difficulties with inattention and focus. Technology increases engagement with completion of tasks. An iPad would afford students more opportunities with engaging learning tasks. There are many apps designed for students with Autism, such as Zac Browser, that help them learn skills more quickly and provide opportunities for generalizing skills already being taught in the classroom. Many students would benefit using the iPad for reinforcement activities such as for puzzles, coloring pages, music, and sensory input apps. My students utilize a first-then board as they work. A picture of the iPad would appear on their board so they would see the what they would earn when they complete the appropriate independent task that matches their level of functioning.
