In our classroom we have a pet bearded dragon named Poppy. I was given a grant to get a baby bearded dragon and supplies. Poppy is now 2 years old (not a baby anymore!) Her tank is too small for her and I really want to get her a cage that she can move around in more. Poppy the bearded dragon has had such a positive impact on the culture of my science classroom. Students are so excited to have a class pet. For many of them it is the only pet they have ever had. My students often make connections about what we are learning to Poppy. Some of my students with higher needs find Poppy's presence calming and will talk to her about what they are learning. She adds so much joy to my classroom and I want to make sure she is well taken care of so she lives for a long time!
