Ewa Makai eighth grade students will design and develop gardens with community stakeholder feedback. They will use the included garden tools to grow culturally relevant produce and problem solve along the way when they run into various challenges. Finally, they will encourage members in the community to practice sustainability and healthy eating by hosting informational seedling giveaways (using the sign holders to provide information about their plants and the buttons to promote sustainability in a way that can be worn by community members and spread awareness).
The objectives of the project are to: reintegrate students back into the school community and to offer a hands-on differentiated curriculum to address the individual needs and interests of each student.
