Small group work allows for a better teacher-student connection. The small group table and flexible stools, will be utilized for ALL subjects, including student check ins. This table will be used to support all my students for reading and math- from high risk to advanced, by giving daily opportunities for 4 to 1 instruction. Working in a low-income district, the expanse between high risk and advanced is wide. Working in small groups allows me to try to narrow that gap.
In a sea of 25 students, now 3 feet apart, making connections is harder than ever. The design of the table gives the opportunity for the children to develop effective communication with each other, as well as giving them increased possibilities of focus and engagement.
