These materials will help me assist in helping me achieve the Nevada Academic Content Standard under Special Education (Health Education). Specifically standard 1.12.14 which is about Personal Safety: Developing personal boundaries and identifying clear personal limits for self and others.
Sensory materials will help my students manage their need to stim and manage their sensory needs in a healthier and less disruptive way. Understanding sensory issues can ease my students discomfort and increase opportunities for them to learn, socialize, communicate and participate in school and in the community. They will later learn to self-advocate for their needs to be met. It is with great hope that this classroom project will be approved.
