The area I teach in has rapidly and steadily fallen in socioeconomics. One result of this: students are unable to effectively process social emotional behavior. Add in the global pandemic and these babies are lost.
I have chosen materials to implement social emotional learning in the classroom. This will help students understand that others are going through some of the same struggles and may better help them navigate social emotional issues they face outside the classroom, including those they face at home.
I have also selected new reading materials for our classroom library. My students are always able to take books home to read. In addition, I have chosen whiteboards to help students actively engage in I Do, We Do, You Do activities.
