These tables will improve the overall appearance of my classroom making it a much more welcoming, bright environment for my students to work in. Currently, my classroom was a "dumping ground" for every other teachers' hand me downs. This is only my third year teaching, so I have not really had the time, or money, to do the necessary updates.
The round tables provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively to enhance pro-social skills and prepare them for working in the real world.
Most of my students do not have very welcoming environments at home. Actually, according to set standards, a lot of my students are considered homeless: living in a hotel, living in foster care, living with grandparents, etc. I am trying to do my best to give them a space in which they feel comfortable, or "at home". After all, our classroom is definitely our home away from home.
