In pre -school many lessons begin on the rug. We have story time on the rug and we sing, dance and have yoga on the rug. The rug is the focal point of our classroom activities and experiences.
When the children need a safe, quiet place to regroup they also go to the rug. Often time we spend time on the rug for social emotional learning. Often we use the carpet area for students to reflect on their feelings and emotions during the day. We also use this carpeted area for big projects such as building blocks, legos and seasonal centers and projects.
