TV, laptops, Netflix, smartphones - today's technology users are heavy consumers. As consumers, we need people who are creating that content.
Through Digital Media Design and Technology for Life classes, I help high school students become critics and creators of media. Using ring lights, tripods, and create-your-own-movie sets, students will be able to create stop motion animation videos, record podcasts and video clips, develop digital photography skills, and create graphic design files.
An increasing number of students each year express an interest in being able to act as creators for the long-term: running a YouTube channel, being a photographer, or creating animated videos. The goal of this project is to allow students to develop their role as a creator instead of just a consumer in an environment where they can learn through experience.
