My teen newcomer students need access to more reading material that is at their English language levels but not intended for younger students. These Newcomer in Action sets will provide reading and learning opportunities with high interest for their lives. We will be able to explore various topics supported by the reading material. The books will help increase reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and more as we use them in the classroom. Newcomer students are rich with cultural experiences that they would love to share. As they increase their English language proficiency through reading practice and learning, they will be better able to share their knowledge, access the content curriculum in their classes, and make lifelong friendships.
