During ELA centers, students have time to listen to books being read to them. This is a necessary part needed in learning to read. I only have a limited amount of time to read to them each day, but with this wonderful listening center it allows students to take ownership of their own learning. They will have the ability to hold the book and follow along while it is read to them. These students are not exposed to a lot of stories being read to them from their own families, due to language barriers or financial barriers. It is amazing to watch them turn the pages of the book and then answer questions and have discussions about the stories.
