Flexible seating allows for my students to gain decision making skills as they move around the classroom to pick where they will do their work for different activities. They are able to make their own decisions on where they want to sit and complete their work. A lesson my students are continuing to learn when picking their seats is to pick a seat where they can focus and stay on task.
As a first year teacher, flexible seating was a priority when setting up my classroom to give my students the lifelong skill of learning to get their wiggles out while completing their work. I have seen how my students are able to stay more focused with flexible seating options, so now we are looking for more seats. The different flexible seating options my students and I are seeking will allow for my students to have more choices when deciding where they want to sit to complete their work. Wobble chairs will help with the wiggles of being a six year old and help my students stay on task. The comfy floor seats are great for reading books. My students have seen how fun it can be to read when they have a comfy seat and it motivates them to want to continue reading. These seats will allow for my students to keep wanting to read and let their imaginations run wild!
My first grade students and I thank you for helping them become lifelong learners with these different seating options. You are having a huge impact on their education and for that, I thank you!
