Our classroom is host to our school's Project Sunshine chapter, an independent reading book club and sophomore English in which we discuss diverse literature through the lens of "the self and/or society". We strive to promote compassion and understanding of actions as seen through individuals and the impact they have on society. We cover a blend of classic and contemporary literature through inquiry and project based learning. Some writers we cover include Marjane Satrapi, James Baldwin, Nnedi Okorafor, Julia de Burgos, Ernest Quinonez and Jhumpa Lahiri.
