My students are more eager to learn on a platform that they are familiar with. My students have many learning challenges in reading, writing, and spelling, and using technology is something they enjoy. This can give them confidence, on new and developing phonics and reading skills, in a way that they are familiar with. My students love to read, but may not be able to find books that are appropriate for them to read. Having the access to find reading apps that will give them books on their level, or giving them the option to listen to the books they are interested in is a simple way to enhance the students reading abilities. I will also be using this as a way to instruct the students since I am in and out of classes all day this is an easy way to bring technology everywhere and my students involved and right there in the lesson.
I want to give my students as much success in their reading and writing skills by opening doors to new opportunities using a device they are familiar with. I will use the iPads for reading books that are on my students' level. But I will also use them to do activities that look at specific goals for each student. Such as learning the rules of the English language to help with their reading and writing goals. Being able to give them the technology access that I do not currently have will open up so many options to use during lessons. Using a PowerPoint app to work on sight words to have them flash up on the iPad, or them using a handwriting app to work on letter formation and their writing skills. The list could go on and on!
