With a classroom rug, my students will have a richer environment to learn. There are many hours in the day and we do varied activities both in group and individual work. It is optimal for students to have both their desks and a rug to sit on throughout the day. Students can spread out during independent reading, work on group projects, and have rug spots to sit at during mini-lessons and whole group instruction. Students are often better able to concentrate when sitting at the rug for read alouds and Reading and Writing Workshop. A rug also offers alternative seating arrangements for students requiring varied learning environments. A classroom rug creates more space to discover, community build, play, and share.
Our classroom is strongly in need of a rug so that it can be the best learning environment possible.
A rug will provide the opportunity for more in-depth teaching and learning by giving an alternative space in the classroom that students feel they can concentrate and delve into what we are learning. Lastly, a rug is a perfect place to meet and breath during our Mindfulness practice so that we can be more successful day today.
