The students and parents have been gifted with a new washer and dryer set from Whirlpool.
Some of the students have poor attendance due to a lack of clean clothing. With a new washer and dryer set, this will help remove one barrier and give students and families access to clean clothes which will help with students' self-confidence, motivation and increase overall attendance.
Our school has received a washer and dryer set and a toolkit which includes laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and fabric softener. We have a designated space to house the equipment however it's not complete.
I am asking for community assistance by completing the laundry room with materials. We need a trash can for clean up of the area and to make sure that the dryer waste stays clear from debris. Also, shelves so we can store the detergents and a folding table so that the parents will have access to the sorting and folding of their clothes. An iron and ironing board just in case they don't have power or they have experienced a life event (ex: fire, relocation, death).
Artwork on the walls and an area rug so that the room will look inviting and feel like home. No room would be complete without laundry baskets to assist with sorting.
These items are needed to assist families with being successful.
