The chairs in our classroom are old, heavy, falling apart, hard, and just plain uncomfortable. Some have been repaired multiple times because the seats have broken free from the metal frames and have screw heads sticking up through the seats that can snag clothing. They are what we have. Wobble chairs will provide a comfortable option that will allow my fifth graders to be freer to move and change position while learning. These wobble chairs will help strengthen their cores and deal with the need to be freer and not feel confined in a hard unforgiving chair. The rigid chairs we have only encourage leaning back on two legs, which is hazardous, and being distracted by the constant need to shift and fidget.
Comfortable seating does make a difference. Fifth graders have a lot of energy. They are growing. Their bodies just don't like being confined to one position for any length of time. Wobble chairs allow them to shift, and lean, and sit with better posture in a way that is not distracting or dangerous. I want to make the learning environment better for my students. These chairs will help.
