My students are learning the Chinese language and culture through immersion. They learn math and science by a teacher who speaks Chinese. But one thing we are lacking are books on the country and culture. These books will add to our library and include levels for all my readers. Students will learn about the country and history through fiction and nonfiction books. This will help bridge the English and Chinese languages and develop literacy in both languages. By learning about the history and customs, students will continue to develop their understanding of China and hopefully their interest in other cultures.
