Distance learning has its struggles. The one I find most difficult to overcome is how to best teach new, and often times difficult, materials to my students when we can't be in the classroom.
Simple things such as pointing to a specific word on a page or modeling how to solve a math problem step-by-step have become nearly impossible to do when learning and teaching from home.
My students are special education students who learn best when they can see and follow along with each step. Having this document camera will open up a world of possibilities for them. It will give them some sort of normalcy while learning in an environment that isn't the normal classroom setting.
This will allow my students to learn from their books or packets and follow along with my teaching in real time instead of having the added struggle of also trying to navigate between digital materials and virtual meetings. Often times their computers lag and glitch which causes additional frustration and anxiety.
This project will make distance learning much more engaging, meaningful, and successful.
