Every year in music class, we do a unique composition project. In kindergarten and first grade, the compositions are fun and relatively simple, but they get more complex and exciting as the students build up their musical skills in later years. In second and third grade, we write more complex rhythms and melodies, and in fourth and fifth grade, we write creative arrangements and harmonies for our compositions. Each year, I have more and more students asking to learn guitar and ukelele to accompany themselves, but it's a challenge to get a classroom set of those instruments.
You can make a huge difference in our music classroom by providing a ukelele for each student to learn to play. Learning to play songs that you love and discovering your own creative voice are skills that transcend the classroom, and you can really help set our students with these skills for life! Thank you so much for considering our project - my students are so grateful for your consideration!
