I will use this iPad to help my nonverbal and minimally verbal students to be able to communicate. By using the iPad, they will be able to choose and then eventually say the chosen want/need to be able to communicate with both peers and other adults.
By using specific apps created for children with communication deficits, I will be able to specifically target their individual goals and objectives. By being able to communicate wants and needs, behavior issues will be lessened and the child will be able to feel a part of the group.
My current caseload has children from ages 5-12 on it. Approximately 1/2 of these students are either nonverbal or minimally verbal. My hope is that this project will add to the weekly speech and language therapy that these children receive.
