Soccer, like many sports, emphasizes teamwork and responsibility to others. While game plans are made and tactics rehearsed, there is a definite improvisational side to the game. Many girls that come out to play for our soccer program have not played the sport in many years. We hope to provide them a space to develop their on-field skills as well as confidence in themselves and in their teammates.
To help our young ladies develop in this way, we need to replace some of our old and decrepit equipment. Our nets have holes in them and some of our scrimmage vests are barely recognizable. This project would fund a team set of soccer balls. Our current balls have served us well for almost a decade, but many need to be replaced. We hope to weed out the "egg-shaped" ones as well as those that need to be filled with air on a weekly basis. With this new equipment, our players will be able to train together in a more meaningful way and continue developing their passion for "o jogo bonito": the beautiful game.
