With a 3/4 combo, I pull the different grade levels to the floor for group instruction while the other students work at the desks. We have a really hard and really cold floor. Right now, it is pretty uncomfortable to sit on the floor for longer that a couple of minutes. It would be awesome to have a rug to sit on. It would make it much easier to sit together and easier for my students to focus and learn.
At our school, social and emotional well being are a focus. We have regular class meetings where we sit on the floor where we celebrate our successes and figure out emotions and life. A rug would make this much more pleasant and inviting and less rushed.
