At our school, students are offered music education. Unfortunately, about half of our scholars are unable to afford an instrument, so once a week for 45 minutes they are left behind in class. This time used to be a study hall, but I wanted to expose these students to the arts. During this time, we would connect our curriculum with art. For example, students just learned about ancient Greece in social studies. During art, we would recreate pottery from this time period.
Having art supplies allows me to teach students about famous artists and art styles and express their creativity.
We are not given a budget from our school for these supplies, so without this grant, I am not able to offer art education to my students as I can not afford to fund it myself.
