Reading literature is a good way to help students learn about themselves and others. The books I am requesting show diverse characters going through real world situations. My students will be reading these either as a whole class novel or in literature circles. The stories are captivating and will ensure that my students are engaged and learning about themselves and others through the power stories told. They will express their new insights through writing and other creative projects that will help them make sense of what the read. They will either write of personal experience or about how they now understand those around them.
