The use of manipulatives provides a way for children to learn concepts in a developmentally appropriate, hands-on way. Mathematical manipulatives are used as a first step of teaching math concepts. My students are in desperate need to understand math and using the manipulatives helps them. We learn best by doing therefore, I want my students to have great hands-on materials at home. Things are already difficult for students and families. It would be great to at least have the resources needed to be able to learn and complete work at home , no matter the families financial situation.
