By having a rug large enough for all my students, some students will not have to sit on the cold tile floor during our morning meetings. Our rug would become the center of the class where we would come together to work as a team and solve problems.
We would use the larger rug more often to read our anchor texts during Reading and other subject areas. Also, new books will be enjoyed on the new rug.
Students love to choose where they do their independent work so flexible seating choices would help them do their best work. Some students may also choose to do their work on the rug.
