Hi. I teach an active group of 4 year olds in Jersey City, NJ. While most of our learning is imaginative and play-based, technology plays a role in education today. We have one laptop for the children to use but it's so outdated that it can't handle many of the graphics for educational sites such as abcmouse.com. As a result, we barely use it.
Computer use is a fact of life in the current educational system and some of my students have no access to technology at home. I'd like my students to be able to learn how to use a laptop to comfortably navigate computer programs. In a few years, they'll begin state testing and it's so unfair for children who have all the knowledge but lack the computer skills to have less success than their more experienced peers.
